Detailed Site Assessments (DSA)

A Detailed Site Assessment (DSA) is a component in achieving a reclamation certificate for industrial sites, wellsites and associated facilities. Detailed site assessments are done after all remediation and reclamation work has been completed and the new vegetation is established.

During a detailed site assessment we create detailed plots both on site and in the adjacent area (sample and control plots). We compare the sample plots to the controls to determine whether the criteria outlined within the 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities has been achieved.

The information collected at the plots includes:

  • soil assessment (layer depth, type, texture, etc.)
  • vegetation assessment (species composition, density, percent cover, etc.)
  • landscape assessment (land contouring and topography)
  • eco-site classification
