Mike Toffan

Mike Toffan joined TTSI during the winter of 2014 as the Reclamation Coordinator for northeastern Alberta.

Prior to joining TTSI, Mike was a Senior Environmental Scientist at Pratum Resource Consultants. During his three years at Pratum, he was responsible for northern Alberta operations and managed the Edmonton office. While initiating, operating and supervising field activities, he provided leadership and training to junior staff as well as overlooked quality processes on all work, projects and reports. He has experience with both provincial and federal regulatory bodies and has expertise in the areas of Phase I, II, & III Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), remediation and reclamation projects, program planning and management, silviculture prescriptions (site preparation, planting and vegetation management), ecosystem classification and environmental reporting.

Between 2006 and 2012 Mike worked as a Field Technician and Planning Forester for Millar Western Forest Products in Boyle, Alberta. During his time with Millar Western, Mike was responsible for the site preparation program, log quality program, survey program, and helped manage the tree planting and vegetation management programs. In 2011 and 2012, Mike was responsible for planning, submitting and gaining approval for the harvest plans and was successfully tasked with certifying the Boyle Wood Products Division to meet the SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) certification criteria.

Mike holds a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta in Forest Business Management (2006) and a Technical Diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Forest Technology (2002). He is recognized as a Professional Forester by the College of Alberta Professional Foresters. Mike has nine years of experience in the forest industry and has been intimately involved for the last four years in environmental consulting industry. Mike enjoys coordinating and supervising projects, contractors and subcontractors and has managed projects of all sizes with budgets up to $2,000,000.
