Assistant Grower -Tree Time Greenhouses

    As the Assistant Grower of Tree Time Greenhouses you will be responsible for assisting in all growing and operation needs of the 66,000 sq. feet greenhouses located south of Beaumont, Alberta. This includes the sowing, growing, harvesting, and packaging of seedlings to support our Treetime.ca division’s online seedling needs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work hands on in the operation of Tree Time Greenhouses
  • To sow, grow, harvest, and package high quality plants following growing schedules that support the production needs of TreeTime.ca
  • To enter, track, and report on crop status to the General Manager and Head Grower
  • To assist in making infrastructure upgrades and ensuring nursery is maintained to the level necessary to consist-ently produce good quality crops
  • Collect data on inventory levels and report them to the GM/Head Grower
  • Act as Lead Hand to seasonal staff when the GM/Head Grower is away
  • Ensure appropriate health and safety standards are being followed as work is done
  • Live and promote the Tree Time Safety Culture

  • Ability to follow seeding and cultural requirements for many different plants
  • Understanding of common plant insect and disease problems

  • Safe vehicle operation, including trucks, tractors, skid steers, and ATVs

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS THAT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL

  • 2+ years experience growing a variety of nursery produced plants preferably trees and shrubs
  • 1+ years of experience in a greenhouse setting
  • Horticulture, Forestry, or Biological Certificate, diploma or degree
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Experience operating farm machinery
  • Valid First Aid Ticket

COMPENSATION

Salary will be competitive and based on experience. Additional compensation may include accommodation to live in a 1675 sq. ft house with recent upgrades and a fully finished basement that is located at the greenhouse site.
